PREMO light rail
Premium Mobility Plan (PREMO) light rail is a plan by Broward County, Florida government to construct a light rail system to facilitate travel through the region. Headed by Broward County Transit, the system is planned to consist of 23.3 miles (37.5 km) of lines with construction split into phases.[1] The initial line is a 3.5-mile (5.6 km) connection between three stations: Fort Lauderdale International Airport and Port Everglades, and Broward County Convention Center.[2] Further phases are expected to extend to Downtown, and the Broward Boulevard corridor. The first phase is tentatively planned to begin revenue service in 2028.[3]
Background[edit]
Voters passed a one-percent sales tax to fund transit operations and expansion in 2018. The implementation plan outlined by Broward County Transit, the PREMO, called for expanded rail operations as well as new bus rapid transit lines and other features.
